Design books dominate fall lineup from Monacelli Press

Posted on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

Starting in September and carrying through November, Monacelli Press will rollout a cadre of titles focused on design and interiors. Past and present, monographs and style primers, the titles will be by both prolific designers and by those who will soon become more recognized.

October will feature La Formentera: The Woodland Retreat of Juan Montoya,  written by Karen Lehrman Block with photography by Eric Piasecki. The Garrison, New York-home and lands are an oasis of calm for the Colombian-born designer, and the green-filled pages will instantly transport the reader.

Edith Wharton at Home: Life at the Mount,  the first release in September and coinciding with celebrations surrounding the 150th anniversary of Wharton's birth, is a book by Richard Guy Wilson featuring new photography by John Arthur that showcases the lengthy renovations done to the Berkshires property.

Thomas Jayne's American Decoration: A Sense of Place is a primer of traditional style that captures the American approach to interiors. Jayne leads us through 24 homes, both city and country residences, and shares the inspiration and process behind each one.

White Light: Heiberg Cummings Design brings the work of Norwegian Bernt Heiberg and his American partner Bill Cummings to a higher profile. Their modern Scandinavian style fuses elegant details and a muted palette with plenty of light and airy spaces.

Linda O'Keeffe, formerly the Creative Director of Metropolitan Home, documents a pattern in Stripes. Graphic images document their presence in travel, fashion and interiors and their worldwide and timeless appeal.

Cohler on Design is a monograph from New York designer Eric Cohler, who is known for his melding of antiques into contemporary spaces.

Contemporary Follies by Keith Moskow and Robert Linn, of the Boston architecture firm Moskow Linn, shows a collection of international buildings that merge design excellence with a firm devotion to the natural world.

In November, Robert A.M. Stern will introduce his latest monograph, Evidence, the culmination of a forty-year career that shows no sign of letting up.
